Broken Record of a Forecast Continues

Real Time Regional Radars:

——————————————————

This Afternoon – Partly Sunny; Sct’d Storms – High 87º / Tonight – Mostly Cloudy; Iso’d Storms– Low 66º

3pm 85º – 6pm 81º – 9pm 75º – 12am 70º – 3am 68º – 6am 66º

Well if you wanted summer, you’re getting it now. Warm and humid is the name of the game for Wednesday. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 80’s once again as the freshly opened pool is getting a run for its money. A good mix of sun and clouds will hang tough through late afternoon/early evening as muggy conditions prevail.

Scattered showers and storms will be more widespread across southern Kentucky this evening as Bowling Green will see better chances for rainfall. A slow moving cold front will work southward across the Commonwealth providing additional lift to help aid more activity. Diurnally driven storms will also be possible as plentiful moisture and instability will be available.

Despite more widespread coverage in storms this afternoon and evening, no severe storms are anticipated. However, brief heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning will all be possible with any development. Tonight, any diurnally driven storms will die off with mild lows. We’ll keep a slight chance for a storm overnight as the front edges southward.

This pattern will get to you after a while….

Thu – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – High 86º / Thu Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – Low 67º

The aforementioned cold front will continue its slow track southward. Much like the past few days, conditions will be warm and muggy. Dewpoint temperatures will range from the mid-upper 60’s with precipitable water values near 1.8’’. Needless to say, the atmosphere will remain very moist and unstable as the front slides into southern Kentucky.

Once again, storms are not expected to be severe but with the additional lift provided by the cold front Thursday, a few stronger storms will certainly be possible. Primary threats Thursday afternoon with any development will be heavy rain, gusty winds, lightning and even small hail with the slightly stronger cells. The forecast surface map below provides a better idea of this set up.

Fri – Partly Sunny; Iso’d Storms – High 87º / Thu Night – Partly Cloudy; Mild – Low 65º

Yes, we’re still talking about this cold front. By Friday morning, the slow mover will finally push southward and work into the Volunteer state. Despite the cool front swinging through, no relief in the heat or the muggy conditions will be felt. Highs will remain in the mid 80’s Friday afternoon with dewpoint temperatures in the upper 60’s. Unfortunately, this will keep the summer-like feel around and also a focal point for more developing thunderstorms for southern Kentucky.

The good news is we’ll see drier air work in Friday evening and in through the overnight hours. The first part of the weekend will offer a mostly sunny day with highs in the upper 80’s. Yes, it’ll be warm, but at least we can discard any worrisome pop-up storms in the forecast. Sunday will shape up to be relatively nice before we introduce more storms chances back into the area by early next week.
