Good afternoon, severe weather is still on tap for this afternoon and we remain under a Tornado Watch until 7pm tonight. Here is a look at the latest Day 1 Wind Outlook from the SPC which continues to show a 15% chance of damaging winds within 25 miles of a given point.

Check out our real-time regional radars which show some scattered thunderstorms to our south beginning to drift north. These storms are not severe yet, but we will be keeping a close eye on their development as they approach our area.

The best severe parameters are currently just east of I-65, however an area of surface low pressure is about 50 miles to our southwest and our proximity to the low as it passes nearly over us will provide additional forcing for severe storms.

This means our best chance of storms will be this afternoon, as this low heads northeast. Severe weather should not be widespread, but some of these storms will become strong to severe with the biggest threats being damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, heavy rainfall, and small hail.

As the surface low moves east, an associated cold front will slowly make its way over us this evening. Our best chance to see strong storms will be between 3-7 pm before this front passes. After the cold front passes, we will see additional rain overnight, but our potential to see severe weather will decrease rapidly.

In addition to severe weather, we have already received nearly 0.75″ of rain across the county today. Storms this afternoon combined with overnight rains could dump up to an additional 1-2″ of rain with localized higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Flash Flood Watch until 7am tomorrow. Watch out out for any minor flooding that may develop with theses rains.

That’s all I’ve got for this afternoon. Please have MULTIPLE ways of being notified if any warnings are issued. Conditions can change this afternoon so be sure to stay up to date with @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWX on Twitter for the latest real-time updates.
