Kevin gives the weather…

This Afternoon – Partly Cloudy, Iso’d Rain/Snow/Sleet – 42˚ & Falling / Tonight – No Worry Flurries – Low 22˚

3pm 42˚ ~ 6pm 38˚ ~ 9pm 32˚ ~ 12am 29˚ ~ 3am 25˚ ~ 6am 22˚

Cold front is currently located well to our east, with blustery winds punishing us on its backside.  A few rain/sleet/snow showers will remain in place as temperatures continue to fall, with wind speeds ranging from 15-30mph.  That’s a far fetch from the 40+mph winds we suffered through earlier today.

There have been reports of power outages and flying debris (mostly from trash cans and recycling bins that were left out…seriously) from these swift breezes.  Several traffic lights also lost power across Bowling Green and the surrounding area as a result.

Take a look at the current surface model below for a better illustration as to what we’re dealing with in a weather sense.  It looks like we may see some rays of sunshine before the day ends:

Overnight, lingering moisture will coincide with temp values below freezing to produce pockets of flying snow flurries.  This will be of little concern, as no accumulation is expected.  With that being said, if you’re out traveling late, be aware of slick spots on the road.

Thu – Sunny – High 49˚ / Thu Night – Clear – Low 31˚

Frigid temps early Thursday could keep a few slick spots around for the morning commute.  Please travel carefully if you’re out & about.  Light northwesterly winds generated from an area of high pressure to our northwest will keep temperatures suppressed to the mid -upper 40s.  It’s not all doom & gloom though, as this feature will also supplement partly to mostly sunny skies across our proximity.

Fri – Partly Sunny – High 64˚ / Fri Night – Iso’d Showers – Low 40˚

Rays of sunshine should come in plentiful amounts throughout the start of our Friday.  As we progress through the last day of the work week, cloud cover will slowly increase ahead of our next weather maker.  Winds will shift out of the southwest as a weak cold front approaches from the northwest.  This will send temps on a warming trend into the low – mid 60s.

On Friday night, isolated showers will enter the picture, as available moisture continues to advect into south central Kentucky.  As we continue into the start of the weekend, skies will remain partly cloudy.

Cloud cover does look to increase as we get later into our Saturday, however, any pockets of precip look to remain isolated & light, as moisture values continue to underachieve.  Saturday night looks to bring with it the best chance at seeing the wet stuff, as deeper moisture becomes available.  This is supported by the GFS precip model below:
