Quiet Weather Ahead

Spring coming soon.

Today 3/6 – Partly Sunny – High 46˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 27˚

3pm 46˚ ~ 6pm 40˚ ~ 9pm 36˚ ~ 12am 32˚ ~ 3am 29˚ ~ 6am 27˚

After a very busy beginning to March in weather, things look very calm over the next few days. The snow and ice that is  still on the ground continues to melt  as sunshine combined with temperatures in the 40s will melt away most of the remaining slushy mess on the ground this afternoon. Even though today is the warmest day of the week so far, temperatures continue to run below normal for this time year. That will change in the next few days….

Tonight, skies will remain partly cloudy and temperatures will drop down in the upper 20s. Winds will be very calm, and because of this southern Kentucky could see some fog by daybreak tomorrow. This fog will get burned off quickly by the sun tomorrow morning with a beautiful day on tap for Friday.

Fri – Sunny – High 60˚ / Fri Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 35˚

On Friday, we will return to a more zonal flow as the upper level low currently to our south pushes east. What does this mean for us? By tomorrow afternoon, winds from the west will usher in spring-like temperatures. Skies will be mostly clear with high temperatures near 60 degrees. If you have the opportunity, Friday is definitely a day to get outside and enjoy the weather.

Sat – Partly Sunny – High 58˚ / Sat Night – Scat’d Rain Showers – Low 37˚

The fun doesn’t just end on Friday, expect much of the same on Saturday across southern Kentucky. Skies will start off partly cloudy and temperatures will make a run at 60 degrees once again. By Saturday afternoon, more clouds will move in ahead of an approaching cold front. This cold front looks very weak, but will bring a chance for scattered rain showers Saturday night into Sunday morning. Precipitation amounts look to be light and the cold front will not do a whole lot to lower temperatures. Here’s a look at the 12Z NAM model which predicts a line of showers to impact us after midnight on Saturday.

Heading into next week, warmer temperatures look to hold on for at least the first half of the week, so be sure to enjoy the weather. That’s all I have for this afternoon, enjoy the rest of your day. You can follow @WarrenCountyWX and @Wx_Or_NotBG on Twitter for more frequent updates.
