The Cold Returns

Possible exchange between yourself and another human after reading this forecast.

Today 2/24 – Sunny & Meh… – High 45˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 24˚

6am 25˚ ~ 9am 35˚ ~ 12pm 42˚ ~ 3pm 45˚ ~ 6pm 37˚ ~ 9pm 32˚

High pressure to our northwest will create light northerly flow across south central Kentucky today.  This will give us sunny skies, however, temperatures will only be able to climb into the low – mid 40s.  A few clouds will track in tonight, but overall, we’ll remain quiet.

For all of you visual learners out there (apparently that’s 85+% of the human population (that’s a completely made up statistic)), here’s a look at the current setup:

Tues – Increasing Clouds – High 45˚ / Tues Night – Scat’d Snow Showers – Low 17˚

High pressure will scoot out of our proximity, as a cold front approaches from our northwest.  This boundary will cause an increase in cloud coverage as we get into the second day of the work week.  The more eye-catching headline is that this same disturbance could provide the potential for scattered snow showers Tuesday night.

This will not be a big event, and I really don’t suspect we’ll see anything more than minor accumulations (spotty dusting, if anything).  The GFS model below slices the snow near our region around midnight Wednesday:

Wed – Sunny – High 27˚ / Wed Night – Clear – Low 16˚

Much colder conditions will be in store as we get into midweek *Collective Sigh*.  Canadian high pressure will slide in from the Midwest, bringing with it much cooler air.  Sun rays will reclaim the sky, but don’t be deceived, folks.  High temperature values will be limited to the mid – upper 20s.

We’ll keep the sunshine around on Thursday, with temps rebounding into the mid 40s.  Come Friday, our next weather maker will arrive, bearing gifts of rain and snow.

That’s all I’ve got for you.  As always, stay in touch with @WarrenCountyWx & @Wx_Or_Not for the latest real-time weather info.  Have yourself a great start to the work week.  Thanks for reading!
