The Cold Continues

This Afternoon 1/28 – Partly Sunny & COLD – High 19˚/ Tonight – Clear and COLD – Low

3pm 19˚ ~ 6pm 16˚ ~ 9pm 13˚ 12am ~ 10˚ 3am ~ 7˚

Even though the weather is calm today, bitterly cold air continues to dominate our region’s weather. The current temperature at the Bowling Green airport is a chilly 18˚. Some clouds have moved into our area  this afternoon as we sit on the far northwest side of a winter storm taking place in the deep south today. There are numerous closings and treacherous roads all across the south. For more information you can check out live winter weather updates from ABC Birmingham where sections of the state south of Birmingham have received 2-4 inches of snow.

Wed – Sunny – High 26˚/ Wed Night – Clear – Low 14˚

As this rare winter storm passes east of us we will have one more day of the bitter cold on Wednesday. By Wednesday afternoon, high pressure to our south will allow for clear skies, but the afternoon high temperature will only reach into the 20s.

Thu – Partly Cloudy – High 40˚/ Thu Night – Iso’d Snow Showers – Low 29˚

On Thursday we will get warmer (relatively). While 40 degrees is not very warm in reality, it will feel much better than it has the past few days. Just consider the weather to be taking baby steps towards warmer temperatures.

An area of low pressure will be moving southeast from the northern plains Thursday, and ahead of this system temperatures will climb with the aid of southwesterly winds. Skies on Thursday will start off clear, but depending on the speed of the system a few clouds could begin moving into the area Thursday afternoon. On Thursday night the moisture starved system will move further east, and we could see a chance for a few light snow showers. At this time, little or no accumulation is expected.

All indications continue to point to a wet forecast for the upcoming weekend. Temperatures will be warmer, but rain will impact us Friday and Saturday before ending as a flurries. We will keep you posted on the details as the weekend gets closer. For more frequent information, stay in touch with @WarrenCountyWx & @Wx_Or_Not.
