Today 1/27 – Partly Cloudy, Blustery – 23˚ & Falling / Tonight – Slap Ya Momma – Low 0˚
6am 23˚ ~ 9am 19˚ ~ 12pm 18˚ ~ 3pm 17˚ ~ 6pm 14˚ ~ 9pm 9˚
As the great Zac Brown once said, “I’m stuck in colder weather.” An arctic cold front has passed to our southeast this morning, bringing with it a few very light, spotty rain showers.
A few slick spots will be possible on the morning commute, thanks to temps currently located in the upper 20s. Want worse news? They’ll continue to plummet throughout the day.
Have a look at the NAM temperature model, valid from 6am – midnight in 3-hour increments:
You will need to dress to fight two elements today…bitter cold temps and strong winds. A tight pressure gradient behind the boundary will produce northerly breezes of 15-25+mph today.
Tues – Partly Cloudy, Holy COLD – High 14˚ / Tues Night – Clear & WUT!? – Low -1˚
Arctic high pressure will dominate south central Kentucky, as the cold front continues to push off to our southeast. This surface boundary will also lay a foundation for a winter storm across the Gulf States. if you’re a weather guru like you, you’ll want to keep an eye on it.
Northerly winds of 10-20mph will suppress our temperatures to the lower – mid teens on Tuesday afternoon. Although rays of sunshine are possible, Tuesday will be the coldest day of the week. Painfully cold. Dress at your own risk.
Wed – Sunny & Cold – High 25˚ / Wed Night – Clear – Low 13˚
As the arctic high advances to our east, clockwise flow will shift winds from out of the south. This will help temp values rebound into the mid 20s. Not a significant warm up…but a warm up, nonetheless. Wednesday night will be another cold, quiet one.
Out next weather producer won’t arrive until Thursday night. This will come in the form of a weak cold front, which will carry light rain & snow along with it.
