Frigid Christmas Eve

Today 12/24 – Partly Sunny & COLD – High 26˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 15˚

6am 19˚ ~ 9am 21˚ ~ 12pm 24˚ ~ 3pm 26˚ ~ 6pm 21˚

Merry Christmas Eve!  High pressure will dominate today.  Expect partly to mostly sunny skies, with northwesterly winds reaching 5-10mph.  This could create wind chills in the teens.   Here’s a look at current surface conditions across the Continental US:

Surface model 12/24/13
Surface model valid 12/24/13

It’s quite quiet.  You just read the previous sentence twice.  See what I did there?

Xmas – Sunny & Chilly – High 41˚ / Xmas Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 25˚

High pressure will continue to have a strangle hold across south central Kentucky, keeping very quiet conditions in place.  Winds will shift from out of the south, sending temperatures rebounding into the lower 40s.  Great day to sit in front of the tube and soak in A Christmas Story.

Thu – Sunny – High 43˚ / Thu Night – Clear – Low 23˚

Sound the broken record…nothing to see here.  Sunshine returns, as temps find their way back into the lower 40s.

Nothing really significant to talk about in the long term forecast, either.  Partly to mostly sunny skies look to hang around for the majority of the week, as our weather pattern becomes rather stagnant.  Sunday could present some mixed precipitation, however, we are well too far out to dive into any specifics.

That’s what I’m made of today, friends.  I’ll be on the road for various Christmas stops today and Wednesday, but I hope to have a post up updating the forecast sometime tomorrow.  Have a great day, and thanks for reading.
