Good Saturday morning, WABBLES! The above average temperatures have made a for a very nice week across the region. Unfortunately, the nice weather must come to an end as Delta approaches WABBLES this weekend.
Today
We are looking pretty good this morning across KY with increasing clouds. Temperatures today will slowly rise into the low 80s under mostly cloudy skies.
Dry conditions should persist throughout the day as rain chances don’t increase until later tonight. Here is a look at future radar through tonight.
Latest on Hurricane Delta
Hurricane Delta is expected to weaken upon landfall to a category 2 hurricane. This still looks to be a significant hit for Louisianna as many of people are still recovering from Laura 6 weeks ago.
Here is some more information on how Delta will affect the coast from the National Hurricane Center.
Delta Approaches Saturday
Hurricane Delta will make landfall overnight and then slowly move it’s way northwards towards Kentucky. The center of the low pressure will likely travel just south of Bowling Green.
Showers and the outer bands of Delta will begin to move in Saturday morning with rain remaining relatively light. The bulk shouldn’t begin to move in until late evening Saturday. Here is a look at future radar for Saturday.
Winds should not be a major issue with Delta this weekend. We should see sustained winds of 10-15mph with a few gusts up to 20-25mph.
The flash flood risk will also remain a small threat. We have been relatively dry lately and rainfall rates should not be extreme this weekend. The WPC has a slight risk for flash flooding to our south across Tennessee.
Rain Continues into Sunday
Showers will continue into the morning hours of Sunday before clearing out through out the day. Rainfall totals for this event are ranging 1-3in with the heaviest remaining to our south.
We should receive a solid inch from this event with a few locations getting well over 2 inches. Sunday does not look like a complete washout but clouds will stick around throughout the day.
Well that does it for the today,s post. Stay updated with all things Delta on out Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @wxornotBG. Have a great weekend and stay dry!
