Stormy Weather Upcoming For Bowling Green

Real-time BG radar:

Today: Mostly sunny, with highs around 63ºF. Tonight: Mostly clear, with lows falling to around 42ºF.

Well, the good thing about today is that the forecast is fairly simple and straight forward.

A mid and upper level ridge will begin to propagate across the region, bringing a continuity to the weather we had yesterday. This will keep clouds away, and will allow temps to rise in a decent fashion throughout the day, making it into the lower 60s.

As the ridge axis begins to make its way towards our region, we will begin to see warm air advection overtake the region, and this will allow lows to stay more elevated than they otherwise would be. I have them forecast in the lower 40s.

Tomorrow: Increasing clouds, and warm. Breezy, with highs around 71ºF. Wed. night: Mostly cloudy, with rainfall likely. Lows only falling to near 60ºF.

Well, a low pressure system will be developing and intensifying across the midwestern states, and this (in association with the mid and upper level ridging) will place us firmly within the warm sector.

Winds will shift to southwesterly flow, which inevitably will increase temperature forecasts. I will stick with that idea as well, as my high of 71 is several degrees above the guidance.

Overnight, in association with the best forcing, rainfall will break out to our west, and will likely fall most of the night. This will keep lows elevated in the upper 50s to maybe 60 across the area.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with rain/storms. Highs around 70ºF. Thur. night: Rainfall early, with it gradually moving on out. Lows around 47ºF

Well, there goes the string of nice days.

It has been so nice that I am sad about it going. But alas, such is life. Well, the cold front associated with aforementioned low pressure system looks to be swinging on through the region, forcing heavy precip.

There is a good shot at some of these storms being strong, so that is something to keep an eye on. Overnight, look for gradual clearing to take place with lows falling into the upper 40s.
