Rounds of Showers and Thunderstorms Continue

Good Friday morning WABBLES! Hope you have had a great week so far as we have finally made it to Friday. The forecast is about to get even more complicated and busy as we head into the weekend. Unfortunately, rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue.

Today

We will be dry for the majority of today, but will continue to monitor for an isolated pop-up this afternoon/evening. Although the greatest forcing and energy will be well to our northwest later today. A large complex of severe thunderstorms is expected to develop over Iowa this evening and begin diving southeastward. Take a look at future radar through Saturday morning.

As you may notice looking at the loop above, these storms tonight will rapidly decay as they approach our area. We cannot rule out a few storms making their way into WABBLES that may be strong, but the severe threat will remain low.

Any storms that do reach WABBLES may contain wind gusts up to 50mph and small hail.

SPC outlook for today/tonight.

Rainfall totals will also be around 1 inch through Saturday with the greatest totals staying to our northwest. We will need to watch for road ponding and localized flooding associated with any heavy downpours, but the overall flash flooding threat will remain low.

Temperatures will top out in the upper-80s close to 90 degrees today. But the humidity will also be high so it will feel very muggy out there today.

The Weekend

Saturday is looking rather wet across the region with first our dying morning complex moving through and then we are expecting more development in the afternoon.

Temperatures will be a bit cooler this weekend, but that of course will be with rain around. Highs will be in the mid-80s Saturday and Sunday. Here is a look at future radar through the weekend.

Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will continue through Sunday.

1-2″ of rain is likely with isolated amounts up to 3-4″.

This weather situation will continue to evolve as we head through the weekend so stay tuned to the weather the next few days.
