A Look at Today

Temperatures really dropped overnight with a few locaations reaching the upper 30s! Here is a look at temperatures across the state as of 6:15am CDT.

We slowly warm up today while heading to a high of 65 degrees this afternoon. Mostly sunny skies are expected with only a few passing clouds.

Cool Weekend with Shower Chances

We are going to start off our Saturday morning with some of the coolest air we have seen since spring. Morning lows in the low 40s with Bowling Green dropping down to 42 degrees. A few locations may get down into the upper 30s if skies stay clear and winds remain calm. There is no threat for frost expected this weekend.

Temperatures will struggle again to get out of the 60s Saturday afternoon. It will be another great day for outdoor activities with mostly sunny skies. We may see clouds increase towards the evenings hours as a wave of energy is a approaching from the west.

This will lead us into our Sunday with increased shower chances likely. Now, I don’t want to get to technical, but one way we can predict where precipitation may fall is looking at a vorticity map. This basically shows where the best lift is in the atmosphere and where precipitation may fall.

This area of “enhanced vorticity” will allow for a few showers to develop as we head into our Sunday. Here is a look at simulated radar for Sunday.

Showers possible Sunday

Rainfall totals will remain light with a lot of this dissipating before reaching WABBLES. Here is a look at current the rainfall forecast through Sunday.

Next Week

Any rain we receive on Sunday will be it for a while. Next week is looking pretty dry with not many rain chances showing up.

Ridge starts building in next week. (Weather Models)

We will likely see a spike in temperatures with afternoon highs approaching 80 degrees Wednesday. Temperatures will drop again Thursday/Friday with a trough diving down from Canada. The ridge will start building in too with temperatures likely going above average towards the middle of the month.
