Good morning, folks, and Happy Hump Day! The start of the week sure has been soggy, and hopefully all this rain hasn’t caused any flooding issues for you. Luckily, a much needed break from the rain has arrived! Check out the details below.
Here Comes the Sun
The low pressure system that brought a second round of non-stop rain has moved out. Skies began to clear up last night and we ended the day with a long overdue sunset.
GOES East satellite shows the view of our mostly clear skies this morning from 22,000 miles away in space.
High pressure located in the Deep South is helping to keep our skies clear today. But wait, there’s more good news. Temperatures look to remain mild for the next few days.
High temperatures for today look to hit the upper 40’s, but should be breezy. Winds will be predominantly out of the west 10-15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph possible.
As we get into the evening hours, a few clouds may begin to move in. Low temperatures overnight will only drop into the upper 30s.
Clear Thursday, Possible Brief Light Rain Overnight
Fortunately, tomorrow will feel like a breezy spring day with partly cloudy skies. For those of you who still want winter, sorry. The temperature will reach the upper 50s, and may even hit 60 in some areas. Strong winds out of the southwest could help raise temperatures a few more degrees.
Winds look to be in the 15+ mph range tomorrow, with gusts up to 30 mph possible. It probably will be a bad hair day tomorrow.
Our next chance of rain looks to be tomorrow evening. The NAM 3km is currently hinting at some very light and brief showers entering the region by 9 pm, and exiting before sunrise on Friday.
Luckily, all precipitation will remain as liquid as temperatures will be in the low 40s overnight. However, winds will remain in the 10-15 mph range as the next cold front moves through.
On and Off Switch for Friday
We will be getting into an on/off pattern for the Friday through Sunday time frame. Periods of clouds or partly sunny skies will alternate repeatedly with periods of precipitation.
After the brief rain showers from Thursday night move out, expect dry and mostly cloudy conditions on the morning commute. Temperatures will top out around 50ºF before another Low pressure system quickly passes through.
The bad news is that the GFS is currently hinting at rain transitioning to snow/freezing rain around midnight Friday night. Low temperatures are currently forecasted to be in the low 30s. The good news is that this event is 72-96 hours away, so there is plenty of time for the forecast to change.
Possibly More Rain This Weekend
All precipitation should be exiting the region by noon on Saturday. The afternoon hours will be mostly cloudy before another low pressure system moves across the region.
Another round of rain looks to enter Saturday night and persist through Sunday morning. Luckily this system looks to stay above freezing.
