Happy twelfth day before Christmas! Whether heading out to school, to work, or to go shopping, pack the rain gear since we will be showery through Saturday as mild temperatures continue.
Highs Near 60 This Afternoon
Yes, you read the caption right–temperatures will reach near 60 this afternoon across our area. The downside is that we will remain overcast with chances of light showers and a stiff breeze throughout the day.
Heavier Rain Tomorrow from “Run-Away” Moisture Advection
As a pesky low pressure system approaches tomorrow, winds from the south will drag lots of warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico into our region resulting in good shower chances throughout the day. Meanwhile, temperatures will remain stuck in the low 50’s.
Tomorrow night’s showers will even bring us a chance for a few claps of thunder although no severe storms are expected.
More Showers Saturday
For the start of our weekend, the low pressure system just keeps hanging around–and so do the rain chances, especially for Saturday morning. The showers will slacken off toward Saturday evening while we reach an afternoon high in the upper 50’s. Total rain accumulations for Thursday through Saturday will likely be 1-2 inches which is enough to be a nuisance, but not enough for a flooding risk.
Sunny Sunday
At last, the low pressure system bringing us all the rain moves out on Sunday giving us clear skies and highs in the low 50’s for the final day of our weekend. This clear, mild streak also looks to continue into next week.
That’s all I have for today. Wear your raincoat and follow @wxornotbg for the latest updates.
