Good morning friends, and Happy Hump Day! I hope you all were able to enjoy the beautiful weather we had yesterday. Unfortunately, our area will have some chance of showers before the weekend arrives. Check out the details below!
Morning Showers to Start off Wednesday
Our area has already had some very light and scattered showers overnight, and a few more scattered showers are in the vicinity this morning. Don’t forget your rain jacket or umbrella this morning, just in case. The good news is you will not need your rain gear for your commute home this evening. The rain is expected to move out of our area by early to mid afternoon.
The high temperature for today will reach the mid 50’s. Winds will primarily be out of the northwest, and will stay relatively calm throughout today. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for a small portion of Butler and Warren Counties, near Green River. This warning is in effect until Friday.
Skies will become partly cloudy overnight, as lows will drop into the upper 30’s. Winds will be out of the north and will stay under 10mph.
Higher Chance of Rain Thursday Evening
Tomorrow we will wake up to partly cloudy skies, but the clouds will be increasing throughout the day. High rainfall chances are expected for Thursday night into the first half of Friday.
Winds at 700mb (approximately 10,000 ft) will turn out of the southwest and will transport moisture and provide lift, which will help develop heavier rain showers. Our area could see up to 0.25 inches of rain Thursday evening.
Temperatures for Thursday will reach the mid 50’s once again, and low temperatures dipping into the low 40’s. Surface winds will be out of the northeast thanks to a surface low pressure system working its way into our area.
Rain Chances Carry Over into Friday
By early Friday, that surface low will be approaching South Central Kentucky, but quickly moving off to the northeast. This will rapidly change our wind directions throughout the early morning hours.
Friday rainfall is expect to move out of our area by the afternoon hours. We could see an additional 0.25 inches of rain, so be mindful of any standing water on roads or parking lots. Don’t forget the rain jacket when walking out the door.
Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 40’s to lower 50’s, with winds out of the northeast at 5-10mph. You may want to switch from a light jacket to something heavier if you plan on going out Friday night. Low temperatures will be colder than we’ve had, dipping into the upper 20’s to low 30’s.
