Remnants of Florence to Cool us off

Good morning, folks! Hope everyone is doing well this Saturday morning. It is looking like another June in September day out there, but expect the remnants of Florence to cool us off over the next couple days.

Saturday Scorcher

There are a couple of things playing into this. One, we are in the middle of a strong ridge for this time of year. This ridge has played a major part in Florence moving so slowly over the Carolinas.

Additionally, we are on the outside of Florence right now, and this means that air will be sinking over the region until she approaches. This will help warm us up today and keep us clear of non-Florence cloud cover.

As a result, prepare for some hot temperatures out there, with highs expected to reach the lower 90s (90ºF-91ºF).

Yeah, I’m pretty much ready for Fall weather at this point. Luckily, we will get a nice taste of it Sunday and Monday.

So, cloud cover will approach the region this afternoon and evening as Florence (finally) begins to move from her current position to the north of Myrtle Beach.

Her remnants will begin to move into upstate South Carolina, and then will quickly begin to push into eastern TN and KY. This will give us plentiful cloud cover, cool temperatures, and chances at showers on Sunday and Monday.

These showers should be periodic, and will certainly not produce rainfall like they are seeing in NC. However, if underneath one, expect it to be a pretty heavy shower briefly.

Highs on both Sunday and Monday will be limited to the mid and upper 70s (75ºF-78ºF). Cloud cover will hang tough and won’t push out until Tuesday, and will be the primary factor in how nice and cool the weather will be both days.

Beyond Monday, we look to get back into the grove of hot weather starting with Tuesday. Expect highs in the mid 80s then, and highs in the upper 80s the rest of the week.
