Good morning south central Kentucky, with a hot, humid environment in place, storm chances increase as heat continues into the middle of the week.
Soupy Air Mass Ups Storm Chances
Highs will reach the upper 80’s this afternoon with scattered thunderstorms popping up around the region. No severe storms are expected today, but you might end up in a downpour this afternoon if you are unlucky.
Tomorrow looks similarly soupy with another chance of afternoon thunderstorms and highs in the upper 80’s, and feels like temperatures peaking near 100 where we are not doused by showers.
Severe Storms Could Be Possible Tuesday and Wednesday
A weak “cold” front will slowly start approaching south central Kentucky on Tuesday. This will supply us the instability needed for more thunderstorms, and may be even a few severe storms on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Whether the severe storms come or not, it will stay hot and humid with increased chances of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Highs will reach the upper 80’s each day while feeling even hotter when you consider the humidity.
Front Pushes Through Late Week
The cold front will finally push through sometime on Thursday, which should at least decrease the rain chances, humidity, and even temperatures slightly for a couple days.
