Good Tuesday morning, folks! Yesterday we averted the severe threat for the most part; we still had some lightning and thunder, which was nice. Now, though, we have cold air pouring into the region leading to a winter-like first day of Spring.
Cold and Snowy Tuesday?
Yep, you read that right. Snow is expected across the region today.
A low pressure system will develop to our southeast, but leave an area of low pressure near us in the Ohio Valley associated with a surface trough, which will combine with other energy in the atmosphere to yeild precip today, including snow.

Rain will move into the region by early afternoon, and should quickly change over to snow as we head into the afternoon and evening hours. Snow should begin between 3 and 5 pm across the region.
Because of this threat, there is a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Simpson, and Warren counties from 7 pm this evening until 1 pm Wednesday.
We are only expecting a dusting-2″ of snowfall, but the morning commute tomorrow will likely be negatively impacted. Highs today were hit at midnight, and temps should fall into the mid 30s by this afternoon.
Cloudy and Cold Wednesday
The snow should gradually move on out of our region later tonight and into tomorrow morning, but the cold weather will remain with the clouds.
Clouds should remain across the region for much of the day on Wednesday, but will likely clear ever so gradually by the afternoon. This should help highs remain in the mid 40s at best.
Wednesday night will likely be a cold one, though, as clouds look to clear out and temps should plummet into the mid and upper 20s as a result.
A Normal Thursday
We will finally see the sun for an extended period of time by Thursday!
I am so pumped about that. Clouds will have moved east with the system on Wednesday, leaving much of Thursday to be sunny for a change.

Now, there is expected to be an increase in cloud cover late Thursday afternoon and evening, as more rain is expected on Thursday night.
Don’t let that ruin the expected sunshine, though! Highs on Thursday should still hit the lower 50s.
Just a heads up: if you have major weekend plans outside, you will want to keep an eye on the forecast. This weekend is looking rainy and cloudy, and that could be an issue for any plans this weekend.
