Pretty Okay Weather Looks to Continue

The Headline

The headline here remains just how odd this late August weather has been. We have been locked in a trough over the past week, allowing for amazing temps and no storms/rain.

We look to remain in this pattern, and have it reinforced over the next few days. The only caveat is that we may see some showers tomorrow and Tuesday.

You can rest assured that you definitely have at least today left of awesomeness weather wise. Nothing but mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, and not-too-warm temps.

Tomorrow and Tuesday, however, look merely okay right now. A disturbance looks to dig into the region from the northwest, and provide us with at least some partly sunny skies the next couple of days.

Rain showers should accompany this disturbance at some point, as well. Don’t anticipate anything too wild or heavy, but we definitely are expecting showers.

The Forecast

Today: Partly cloudy, with highs around 85°F. Overnight, look for partly cloudy skies, with lows around 65°F.

Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy, with isolated showers. Highs around 84°F. Overnight, look for mostly cloudy skies, with isolated showers as well. Lows around 65°F.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with widely isolated showers. Highs around 83°F. Overnight, look for partly cloudy skies, with lows around 64°F.

Hurricane Harvey Update

In lieu of a Decisions section (the weather is pretty normal the next 3 days), I am gonna do a Harvey update. Harvey is now a Tropical Storm, but that ultimately doesn’t matter too much at this point. Harvey is quickly becoming a disaster situation.

He made landfall on Friday night, and devastated several towns on the Texas Gulf coast as a Category 4 Hurricane. He strengthened until landfall.

Now, even worse than advertised, Harvey is becoming a flooding disaster in and around the Houston Metro area. Harvey has dumped 24″ of rainfall over the city in 24 hours. Not only that, but models continue to show upwards of another foot of rainfall over the next 18 hours.

It is already bad, and will likely get worse before it gets any better. Please keep the folks in Houston and in Texas in general in your thoughts and prayers, as this is simply going to be bad. That is all I can say about it, really.
