Derby Day Celebrations Looking Better

Discussion

This forecast has gradually been improving over the past few days, and it is looking the best that it ever has today!

I’m excited about that, because the Derby is gonna be run without rain falling it looks like. That is good for a variety of reasons. One, derby celebrations will be way better. Two, the derby itself will be more fun to watch. You could say that I am excited about the Derby.

Early this morning, we have a weak disturbance in the atmosphere moving southeastward towards the region. This is forcing an area of rainfall to our north, and this is quickly sliding southward. Associated with it will be cold rain, and that is about it. It looks to move on out of here after the lunch hour.

This will set up the region for partly to mostly sunny skies and warmer temps this afternoon as you watch the Derby. Expect temps to rise back into the upper 50s and lower 60s. Some isolated showers can’t be ruled out this afternoon, as well.

I don’t wanna be to simple with this forecast, but the weather tomorrow and Monday looks to be driven by almost the exact same set up. With this deep trough setting up across the eastern US, we’ll be strongly within deep northwesterly flow.

This will keep our temperatures below normal by quite a bit, with temperatures only in the low to mid 60s tomorrow, and the upper 60s on Monday. Sunny skies should dominate much of this timeframe, but especially tomorrow.

By Monday afternoon, we look to modify our temperatures to an extent, and this *may* bring an area of clouds and light precipitation to the region. I am just expecting clouds Monday afternoon.

But interesting and warmer weather looks to return after Monday, so that is a definite plus.
