Forecast Discussion

A strong ridge will be moving into place across the region over the next couple of days. This will lead to much warmer conditions and calm conditions for today. Expect temperatures to rise to near 60° this afternoon thanks in part to this ridge.

On Monday, a small embedded shortwave within the trough will bring some unsettled weather to the region. A few isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop across the region during the afternoon and evening hours. I don’t think this will be too much to worry about at the moment. Southwest flow and the intensifying ridge will bring temperatures all the way up to near 70°!

Showers become more numerous overnight as a weak cold front approaches the region. Some thunder is possible too as temperatures drop only into the mid 50s.

More showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop on Tuesday as the cold front passes through the region. Some instability is noted across the region, as well as shear. This could lead to some storms becoming organized enough to produce some hail and strong winds. The better chance for this occurring is the KY/TN state line and southward, but we’ll keep an eye on it.

Lows will drop off into the low 40s as the rain departs the region overnight. Don’t fret too much, temperatures look to rebound back into the mid 50s on Wednesday.
