Quiet and Cool Bowling Green Weather

Real-time Bowling Green Weather Radar

Yesterday’s Weather

What a day! Yesterday’s weather was definitely not boring to say the least. It almost seemed like we saw nearly every season in a matter of hours.  In Bowling Green, we saw a 32 degree temperature spread between the observed high and low, not to mention temperatures topping out at 68°F which then tumbled to a chilly 36°F.

On top of the wild temperature swing, Bowling Green and much of Southern Kentucky had numerous severe weather warnings and even a few tornado warnings scattered across the region. None of the reports have yet to be confirmed by the National Weather Service, but the atmosphere was definitely primed for some severe weather to take place.

After being dumped on by some much needed rain, the front began to push through, which ushered in some very cold air and caused Bowling Green’s temperatures to fall dramatically fast. With so much water being left on the roadways from the rainfall, back roads and side roads would quickly become ice skating rinks with numerous slick spots. Thankfully, roads are continuously being treated, but still use extra caution this morning.

Forecast Discussion

After a day like yesterday, Bowling Green’s weather today is really looking like a bore.

Bowling Green has really started to dry out, as much of the rain has pushed its way eastward along that cold front.

The cold front is currently draped over Eastern Kentucky, and just behind that is a large dome of high pressure that will dominate our forecast for the next few days – Map from the Weather Prediction Center Surface Analysis

This is going to cause our temperatures to remain below average, with our high temperatures will only barely be able to reach the mid 20s. Overcast skies will really help to aid in keeping those temperatures low and add in those blustery winds and your looking at wind chills in the teens and 20s.

As for tomorrow, it looks to be much of the same story as today. Below average temperatures that struggle to make it out of the twenties and low thirties.

At least as we head into Tuesday forecast highs are expected to be slightly, dare I say, warmer. Bowling Green will be much closer to the normal for this time of year with highs hanging out just shy of the 40 degree mark thanks to some good ole sunshine.
