Cooler Bowling Green Weather on the way

Real-time Bowling Green Weather Radar

Yesterday’s Weather

Yesterday was really, really nice until about the evening time, when clouds came in and dampened our style. Also: lets talk about this 4:30 pm sunset thing. That is terrible. The sun has gone down around 4:30 pm each of the past two afternoons, and has plunged us into quick darkness. Why does it have to be this way? It is terrible. Such is life. The high yesterday was in the upper 70s, making it a nice day.

Discussion

While this isn’t exactly a late spring kind of interesting pattern, at least the weather over the next couple days looks to have some sensible impacts!

I’m kinda excited about that because our weather has been missing that impact recently. That wouldn’t really matter in a lot of cases, but considering we haven’t had much rain since August, it tends to lead towards drought. But you know what? We’re looking at rain chances today!

The pattern is fairly simple, and is a lot like it has been recently. A fairly deep trough is forecast to dig into and through the Ohio Valley this afternoon and evening, bringing along with it a cold front and a new air mass.

This will be the driving force of our rainfall threats today and tonight. It won’t be a washout as you head out to the polls today, but it will be cloudy and kinda nasty out.

It won't be this gloomy, but this is a good representation of the kind of gloom expected. h/t giphy.com

Even so, be sure to get out and vote! The rain should taper off quickly behind the cold front during the overnight hours. Tomorrow and Thursday will be basically picked from the same weather tree.

The trough looks to usher in a new air mass that will reside across the region over the next few days in conjunction with a surface high pressure system. Look for northwesterly flow in the mid and lower levels, and at the surface, to keep us much cooler than we have been recently.

In addition to it being cooler during the daylight hours (what few of them we actually have), our first frost threat looks to be a possibility. Wednesday night has a higher likelihood of seeing the temperatures cool enough, but the threat is also there on Thursday night as well. Just something to keep an eye on! Overall, the forecast isn’t overly complex, but when has it been since July? Hahahaha.

Today’s Key Points:

  • Cloudy and showery for your election day
  • Cool air ushered in tonight
  • Highs only in the 50s for Wednesday
  • Frost threat on Wednesday and Thursday nights
  • Chili Advisory has been issued for Wednesday evening, because its the first day of the season where chili will be appropriate.
