Discussion
Ahh, back to boring weather across the region! It is okay forecasting for it because it makes the forecast not too difficult. However, it does make it just uninteresting.
Our weather has become, ironically, uninteresting. It is Fall. There is a major thermal gradient developing in the northern hemisphere. Cold air is building with the loss of solar radiation in the northern latitudes and with the increase in snowpack, and the tropical regions are staying about the same thermally. We should be seeing some intense low pressure systems develop and affect us, but it hasn’t occurred yet. Thus, our weather has been boring!
I digress. The overall pattern these next couple of days is one that favors a continuing of fairly nice weather across the region. Today will see and increase in clouds and temperatures as opposed to yesterday. Both are in response to a digging trough that is pushing towards us as we speak.
This will create cloud cover, and should increase it by the evening hours. We should be good enough in the afternoon to where the southerly flow can warm us into the mid and upper 70s for highs.
That isn’t too bad! Plus, the rainfall threat is looking low, but the majority of it is forecast to occur overnight tonight, and tomorrow morning. The days that you actually see shouldn’t see much precip!
That should keep our streak of nice weather days going, even though clouds look likely to persist into late tomorrow morning. After that, gradual clearing is likely to occur, with partly cloudy skies developing into the afternoon, but highs likely won’t clear the low 70s.
By Friday, the northwesterly flow behind this exiting trough will still persist over us, and gradually turn westward through the day. Friday should be slightly warmer at the surface, as the high that moves in Thursday will already be on the way out. This looks to only create weak southerly flow on the western side of the high, so expect a slight bump in highs into the mid 70s. Otherwise, Friday looks good as well!
Also: there isn’t much to talk about long term, as it just looks anomalously warm for much of next week. Halloween is looking nice, with highs likely reaching the 80s.
Today’s Key Points
- Trough is moving in this afternoon/evening
- Clouds, and isolated showers develop tonight/tomorrow morning
- Cooler air by tomorrow afternoon, with clearing
