Iceland Soccer’s Weather News of The Day

I know, I know. This has nothing to do with weather. But within my other passion, sports, this is a huge storyline. Not only does Iceland have an amazing climate and over 21 hours of daylight during much of the summer, they now have one of the more surprising soccer teams in history. Today, Iceland upset England in the Euro Cup.

I will fully admit, I am not a soccer aficionado. However, I got a sense of the magnitude of their upset over England today by watching the game. The announcers were stunned, and ran out of adjectives to describe how embarrassed the English should feel.

I am a HUGE proponent of underdogs in sports I don’t have a favorite team in, so I was pulling hard for this to happen. Plus, England is lame. Go Iceland!!

Severe weather occurred today across the front range

Other than the weak thunderstorms here at home, much of the activity that was occurring weather wise across the country was occurring across the front range of the Rockies. Supercells formed along a couple of 850 mb shortwave troughs that rotated through, and provided lifting for the storms to form.

They went up in a well sheared, unstable environment, and produced large hail and a couple of tornadoes.

Insult was added to injury across West Virginia today

After some of the worst flooding in the state’s history occurring mid to late last week, additional heavy rainfall moved in this afternoon, exacerbating the issues.

Flash flood warnings were issued underneath the heaviest rainfall across the area, but the state really doesn’t need more rain. This comes after the death toll had risen to 23 associated with the flooding.

The sunset tonight was awesome

Just see for yourself.
