Ahh, sunshine. It is essentially the base of meteorology, as the Earth’s tilt towards it distributes its energy unevenly, thus giving us temperature differences across the globe. Today, we had some incredible weather, including some of the best sunshine in quite sometime. How nice it is to have sunshine, with incredible temperatures across the region.

Tropical Storm Colin Dies

As I mentioned in last nights post, Tropical Storm Colin was nearing post-tropical status, but officially reached that stage this morning.

Tropical Storm Colin was never really too organized, and never got too strong. Nevertheless, he exited his tropical existence with 60 mph winds and heavy rainfall along the Atlantic coastline. Also: he was rocketing northeastward at 40 mph, which is very fast for a tropical system.

Storm Chasers are all the Controversy

Over the past couple weeks, the situation surrounding storm chasers and their practices has snowballed into a legit controversy in the meteorological community. This has sparked Twitter fights, with people being on one side or the other, or sometimes both.

I am not particularly sure how it got started, but I feel like Ian Livingston of the Capitol Weather Gang and The Washington Post is unfairly at the middle of all of it. Ian is a yearly chaser, and from following him on Twitter, he is always willing to criticize or defend the chaser community depending on the issue within it at hand. He provides excellent insight on some of the issues surrounding the Chaser community over on the Capitol Weather Gang’s blog.

Even for June Standards, This Weather is Incredibly Awful

I know, I know. It was nice today. The sun was out. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

This pattern is about as quiet as I can remember in a good while. While this isn’t going to last for more than a few days, it is still sort of boring as a forecaster to see literally nothing going on outside. I just want one storm. Just one! Lets go thunderstorms! Alas, I have to deal with boredom for a little bit longer.

Well, that is really all the news of the day. As I said, the weather has been pretty as of late, and will continue to be that way for a few more days. Be sure to check out the forecast post in the morning!
