One minute GOES-14 SRSOR Imagery is available today for severe weather in the southeast. This high resolution satellite can help meteorologists track the initiation of thunderstorms across the southeast. As of now, the satellite imagery is only activated during extreme weather events.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a moderate risk of severe thunderstorms in the southeast today, prompting the use of the satellite imagery. Strong, damaging winds, tornadoes, and isolated hail will be possible in the area outlined below.
