Wednesday Bowling Green Weather Update

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Wednesday, 2/10- Partly Sunny & Cold – High 26˚ / Tonight – Iso’d Snow Showers – Low 18˚

Good morning, Bowling Green! If you’re a winter-weather fan, Bowling Green has been the place to be! If you are someone anxiously awaiting spring, you may find yourself waiting a little bit longer…

Our region of the country has been situated downstream of a deep trough in the upper-levels of the atmosphere. This has allowed smaller systems to rotate through the area via the trough (bringing us snow), and much cooler temperatures to filter in as well.

Curiosity often leads me to compare the forecasted or recorded highs with the climate normals for the day. The “normal” for this time of year in Bowling Green is around 48° or 49°… So, just a few degrees or so from what we’ve been seeing (sarcasm).

The temperatures today will be some of the most frigid all week. So if you haven’t made it out of bed or out the door yet this morning, be sure to bundle up! Temperatures will struggle to make it into the mid-20s today, with wind chills in the single-digits possible this morning.

We run the chance of seeing some isolated snow showers to our west (greater chance of seeing only flurries in BG) tonight due to another clipper system diving into the area. Temperatures will drop into the teens overnight.

Thursday, 2/11 – Partly Cloudy – High 32˚ / Thursday Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 18˚

Conditions will begin to calm down Thursday, with temperatures back on the climb, winds decreasing, and no chance for snow! Building high pressure will keep us dry as temperatures flirt with the freezing line during the day.

Some breaks in the clouds on Thursday will also make for a more pleasant day, thanks to high pressure. High pressure is our friend.

Temperatures will drop back into the upper-teens overnight under partly cloudy skies.

Friday, 2/12 – Partly Sunny – High 39˚ / Friday Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 20˚

Previously, a shot at some snow looked possible come Friday with the arrival of another clipper system. However, the latest models show most of our area remaining dry, due to the already dry air mass in place. This could, of course, change in the next model runs.

As of right now, parts of eastern Kentucky will have the best shot at seeing snow from the northern tier of a low pressure system traveling northeastward off the Atlantic coast.

Temperatures look to ramp up into the upper-30s and possibly low-40s on Friday before crashing this Valentine’s weekend.
