Cold Today; Warming Trend Starts Tomorrow

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Today 11/22 – Cold; Partly Cloudy – High 40° / Tonight – Mostly Clear; Cold – Low 24°

We’re waking up to temperatures right around freezing. Cloudy conditions kept temperatures across the eastern two-thirds of the state in the 30s. Less cloud cover was located to the west of the region where lows fell into the mid to low 20s across the area.

Colder conditions will continue today. Clouds will begin to depart the region in the morning hours. However, strong northwest flow will strengthen throughout the day, bringing cold, Canadian air into the region. Slight northerly winds around 5 to 10 mph won’t help temperatures much either. Thus, despite some sun this afternoon, highs will likely only be around 40°.

Tonight will bring mostly clear skies to the region. With the mostly clear skies, lows will drop down to around 24° across south-central Kentucky.

Monday 11/23 – Mostly Clear – High 50° / Mon Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 30°

While upper level flow will be out of the northwest on Monday, a weak  low pressure system will be located well to the north of us. We’ll be placed in the “warm” sector of this system, meaning southerly surface winds. This, with mostly clear skies, will bring those highs back up to around 50°. While I don’t make the weather possible, I’ll claim responsibility for your reaction.

Fortunately, the aforementioned cold front begins to wash out as it approaches the region. Although a few clouds may result from it, we should feel little effects as far as temperatures go. Lows will be around 30°.

Tuesday 11/24 – Partly Cloudy – High 53° / Tue Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 36°

On Tuesday, high pressure will be situated to the east of the region. A weak area of low pressure is noted to the west of the region, along the Rocky Mountains. This will create more southerly flow at the surface. Low level flow will also be out of the south. All this moisture advection may lead to some clouds, but should also help temperatures into the mid 50s.
