Here at WxOrNotBG, we have begun to implement a new post every Sunday evening previewing the week ahead. In light of that, I am going to begin posting a review of the previous week each Saturday night, highlighting the major events that occurred, etc. So, with that being said, here is your *cue awesome music* WxOrNotBG Week in review for September 6th through September 12th.
Let me just say, this week was almost an exact flip of the week before it. That is basically a preface for me saying that the end of this past week was the best end of a weather week that I have ever experienced (at least this year).
Well, we can’t get the good stuff without the bad stuff, right? The beginning of the week was rough, and much like the previous days before it. It was hooooooot.
It felt like the world was on fire few days there, and the amount of sweat that accumulated on campus was unreal. Especially on Wednesday, when the air conditioning went out in one of the more crowded buildings on campus. This fell in line with a string of events that made it feel like the world was ending at WKU.
All of campus lost internet one night, and the next day EST lost air conditioning. It was like a mini drill for the end of the world. I digress. The beginning of last week was just unbearably hot. BUT. Wednesday was on the way, and it brought with it hope. Tons, and tons of hope. Hope that we could accomplish something; hope that we could walk on campus without melting; hope that fall was on the way.
It delivered. Wednesday delivered with the cooler air. We experienced rainfall throughout the day, but who cares? We knew we’d have growing pains there. We needed the rain.

After that, oh my. Our weather made a complete 180 within a few days. Fall was in the air, temps were in the 70s, and lower 80s. Life was so good. Who cares if it rained some on Friday and Saturday (it rained a ton on Friday, and I was in it)? It was the essential fall day. Partly cloudy, cool, breezy, and football. It doesn’t get better than that. Plus, the weather entity that caused it was awesome. A mid-level low pressure system dug deeeeeeeeep (especially for September) across the eastern portion of the nation, and this is what was largely causing our cold temps.
Brrr coldest air at 500mb comes right across the Bluegrass boys! #falliscoming @WxOrNotBG @chriswymt @drdabroholos pic.twitter.com/ArGxyWTlFB

It definitely produced some cool satellite images, and some awesome weekend weather. The timing was perfect for the weekend, and I know it made a lot of people excited.
- The NFL season kicked off last week, and to many, it meant fantasy football. I had my first fantasy football forecast over here.
- WKU had their first home game, and won 41-38 over Louisiana Tech. Check out the first football forecast of the home season here.
- If you remember, a couple weeks ago, Tropical Storm Erika essentially was a semi-bust, and caused a lot of panic among some. The NHC has an awesome blog about their POV on that.
