Tropical Storm Danny Forms

Yesterday, things escalated fairly quick across the eastern Atlantic. At 11 AM yesterday, tropical depression 4 formed, and was quickly named Tropical Storm Danny.

This comes after a fairly quiet first two and a half months across the Atlantic. Though there is some drier air to Danny’s north, and the convection around him is weak at the time, he is well organized, and expected to become a Category 1 Hurricane by 8 AM Friday.

Even though we haven’t seen many tropical systems this year, we still have a ways to go to get to the peak of the season. Typically, the peak of hurricane season occurs in early to mid September, and then goes down from there.
