Golly, It Looks Hot

Today: Mega hot, with an isolated storm or two. High of 95ºF. Tonight: Still….pretty hot. Low (relative) of 76ºF.

Holy cow…it has been so hot the past couple days. I mean…come on atmosphere. Just give us a break.

With a heat advisory remaining in effect until 7 pm this evening, you can expect the hot conditions continuing throughout the day. Temps look to rise into the mid and upper 90s across most of the area, with dewpoints getting into the mid 70s.

This will combine to make today one of the hottest days of the year. Some of the models are putting the heat index into the 110’s this afternoon! That may be on the upper end of things, but it is completely plausible considering the heat and dewpoints this afternoon.

If you have any outdoor plans, please take extra precautions. And, check out some of the ways to beat the heat around here! Outside of the heat, be aware of the threat for some isolated showers and storms popping up across the area tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Overnight, temps should fall, even if its only into the upper 70s. Muggy conditions will remain as well.

Monday: Hot, again. Isolated storms, with a high of 96ºF. Mon. night: Scattered storms and warm, with a low of 74ºF.

For some reason my first inclination was to say, “Well, we have become Arizona”. However, there are several things wrong with that statement. First, Arizona almost never sees dewpoints like the ones we have now. Secondly, we are far from a desert. Third, It isn’t that hot here. It only feels hot.

Anyways, it’s gonna be hot for the 1500th day in a row across the region. Temps will get up into the mid and upper 90s, with dewpoints following suite into the mid 70s. This will create hot and dangerous conditions to be doing anything labor intensive outside for any stretch of time.

There isn’t a heat advisory out at the time of posting this, but we will let you know if another one is posted for Monday (odds are, its happening). The threat for showers and storms will increase as we head into the evening and overnight hours as a “cold” front approaches the region, and sparks up some storms.

There shouldn’t be much of a severe threat with these, but the SPC does have us in a “Marginal Risk” for the day on Monday, so be on the lookout for some storms that could drop some hail/damaging winds.

Overnight, it looks to continue being stormy, with lows in the mid 70s.

Tuesday: Coooooooler (hallelujah), with some scattered storms. High of 86ºF. Tues. night: Much cooler. Storms tapering off. Lows around 66ºF.

Ice age is coming. Mark it down. Tuesday is your best indicator of that. Tuesday is looking bitter cold, with temps only reaching the mid 80s across the region. This will have many of you either shivering, or jumping for joy.

I will  be jumping for joy. A cold front will be approaching the region, giving us our best shot for organized convection over the next few days. Scattered storms will likely dot the skies across the region, giving us some much needed clouds and some temp-checking rainfall.

Severe storms look possible, but not too likely at this point. I would imagine the SPC might put us in a “Slight Risk” as damaging winds would likely be the main concern.

Overnight, look for storms to taper off, leading to a cooler night as temps drop into the mid 60s.
