Today 7/11 – Mostly sunny; Chance of scat’d showers & storms – High 90/Tonight – Partly Cloudy; Chance of scattered showers – Low 73
Happy Saturday! I hope you don’t have too many outdoor plans this weekend because it’s going to feel pretty gross out there. High pressure is still situated over the region and is pulling hot, humid air up from the Gulf. This is making for some uncomfortable weather and unpredictable storms in the afternoons.
Some isolated showers could move through this morning and the high temperatures and dewpoints will once again make a very unstable atmosphere today, so pop-up thunderstorms are not out of the question. Storms could be severe with damaging winds, lightning, and possible hail, similar to what we’ve been seeing the last few days.
Scattered showers are expected in the late night hours but should be out of the region by early Sunday morning, just in time for things to heat up again! Oh joy…
Sunday 7/12 – Sunny; Chance of isol’d afternoon storms – High 90 (Heat Index Values >100 degrees possible!)/Sunday Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 73
Here we go again. It looks to be another hot, humid day for Bowling Green on Sunday with high temperatures around 90 but heat indices reaching a possible 100 degrees or more! Keep your time outdoors limited during the hottest parts of the day and make sure to stay hydrated.
Isolated thunderstorms are also another possibility on Sunday afternoon, so stay updated with WxOrNot BG for more on severity as new information becomes available.
Monday 7/13 – Sunny; Chances of isol’d afternoon storms – High 92/Monday Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 74
Monday will likely be similar to Sunday, with high temperatures around 90 degrees and dewpoints in the 70s. Isolated storms are also possible in the afternoon and could become severe if the right conditions come together. Sound familiar?
This is the typical summer forecast for BG, but it does feel like we’ve had a very rainy July so far. According to the Midwestern Region Climate Center (MRCC), the BG airport has recorded over 3.5 inches of rain for July to-date, which almost meets the average rain total for the entire month! It would not surprise me if we end up with above-average rain totals by the end of July.
The hot, humid, stormy forecast looks to continue on for the foreseeable future. Don’t get too excited.
