Steamy Bowling Green Weather

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Today 5/14 – Warmer; Partly Cloudy; PM Showers – High 84° / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 65°

We’ll remain under the influence of upper level ridging across the area. However, a trough to the west of the region will bring south-central Kentucky a bit strong southwest flow. This will help bring the 80° temperatures back into the region. In fact, partly cloudy skies seem likely with a high around 84°.

A few showers may develop in the afternoon and evening. Tonight will bring partly cloudy skies to the region with a low of 65°.

Friday 5/15 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 84° / Fri Night – Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 68°

Weak divergence aloft associated with the upstream trough and downstream ridge may be sufficient lifting for some isolated thunderstorms on Friday. These should remain pretty unorganized in nature. However, with temperatures in the mid 80s and dew points approaching 70°, thunderstorms may be strong enough to produce small hail, gusty winds, lightning, and heavy rain. The Hi-Res NAM depicts a weakening line of storms approaching the area in the late evening hours.

Isolated thunderstorms will continue in the evening, but should generally decrease in intensity and coverage after sunset. Lows will be around 68°.

Saturday 5/16 – Scattered Thunderstorms – High 82° / Sat Night – Scattered Thunderstorms – Low 67°

More widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday from storms that formed during the afternoon and evening on Friday in the Plains states. The should remain fairly unorganized in the absence of local speed shear. Highs on Saturday will be a bit cooler given the stronger cloud cover. Expect a temperature in the low 80s. When thunder roars, go indoors!
