As we get set to wrap up the work week this afternoon, we can expect a break from the rainy weather over the next 24 hours. Temperatures have reached the 70s this afternoon under mostly cloudy skies and we can expect clouds to decrease this evening as a weak area of surface high pressure builds over the Ohio Valley.

Temperatures will fall into the middle to upper 50s under partly cloudy skies tonight.

Saturday, 4/18 – Partly Cloudy – High 79˚ / Saturday Night – Showers and Storms Late – Low 61˚

Tomorrow will be a great day for any outdoor plans as the weather will stay dry over southern Kentucky with high temperatures reaching the upper 70s.

Unfortunately, our spout of dry weather will be short lived as rain chances enter the forecast once again on Saturday night. Expect clouds to increase tomorrow evening with scattered showers and thunderstorms increasing in coverage overnight in response to a developing area of low pressure to our southwest.

Sunday, 4/19 – Showers & Strong Storms – High 77˚ / Sunday Night – Sct’d Showers & Thunderstorms – Low 62˚

Things will really begin to get interesting on Sunday as an upper-level trough will be situated just to our west. Ahead of this trough, an area of low pressure will move from near Memphis to Chicago on Sunday. As this low moves just west of our area, expect heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms on Sunday.

A few storms could be strong to severe with damaging winds and hail. The SPC has placed Bowling Green in a slight risk for severe storms on Sunday.

Showers and storms will continue overnight before a cold front sweeps across the state early on Monday. We will have to watch out for more flooding issues on Sunday as rainfall totals of 1″ are possible with locally heavier amounts possible.
