Keeping It Wet

This Afternoon – Showers Diminishing – High 60˚ / Tonight – Cloudy – Low 50˚

The shield of precipitation that created flooding problems across the region this morning has shifted well north of the area.  Total rainfall amounts from the past 24 hours across the area ranged between 1 – 3″.   There were a number of flooded roadways, as well as downed trees due to saturated soils giving way.

We should see lingering light showers taper off as we progress into evening, with cloudy skies in place for the overnight.

Wed 4/15 – Partly Cloudy – High 72˚ / Wed Night – Scat’d Showers & Storms – Low 55˚

Our Wednesday will start out dry and tolerable, with southerly flow returning to the region.  This will help escort highs back to the lower 70s by tomorrow afternoon.

Now that’s what I’m talkin’ bout!

Another slug of moisture is slated to coincide with a wave of energy sliding over the area late Wednesday, which could reintroduce showers and storms into the forecast by early evening.  Rain chances will increase as we progress through Wednesday night.

Thu 4/16 – Showers & Storms Likely – High 76˚ / Thu Night – Iso’d Storms – Low 60˚

Scattered shower and storm chances will ramp up both Thursday & Friday, as a series of disturbances are ejected from an upper low lodged over the Desert Southwest.  The following GFS model loops every 6 hours from 1am Thursday – 7pm Friday.  It paints a nice illustration of the upper low getting “cut off”:

This looks to keep the rain around through the early part of our Saturday, with drier conditions taking back over Saturday afternoon.

The weekend won’t be a washout, however, with the upper low sliding through late Sunday, the start of next week looks to be another soaker…

Please keep in mind of the flooding issues that could arise with these rounds of upcoming rainfall.  The ground is very oversaturated, not only raising concerns over flooding, but mudslides and downed trees as well.  When traveling, please keep in mind of these possibilities.
