Tracking Our Snow Chances

The first wave of snow (which was rather impressive, BTW) is winding down across south central Kentucky.  Reports have ranged from a solid dusting up to ~1″ so far, the highest totals coming from those impacted by a heavy snow band that set up over Bowling Green:

Although this round of snow is coming to an end, we’re not done just yet.  The latest Hi-Res guidance continues to indicate another round of snow showers taking place during the predawn hours of our Tuesday, as a low pressure clipper system dives southeast across the area.

The HRRR simulated radar model below provides a glimpse of what we could be dealing with.  It loops every hour from midnight – 6am tomorrow morning:

Check out the RAP model.  It also favors another round of wintry precipitation impacting south central Kentucky.  This particular run is valid for 4am in the morning.

Roads have become slick with the snowfall taking place.  Slick spots will be inevitable, given the conditions.  Please exercise caution if you must travel between now and mid morning Tuesday.

If this second round of snow comes to fruition like the guidance suggests, we could be looking at additional accumulations of 1/4 – 1″.  With our atmosphere already saturated, I see this as a reasonable possibility.  With that being said, not everyone will see this occur.

As always, we’ll be updating more frequently on twitter at @WxOrNotBG & @WarrenCountyWx.  Stay safe, and have a great night.
