Drone Owner Documents Chiberia from Above

During the frigid winter months, Chicago takes the humorous, yet fitting name of “Chiberia” as the city turns into a frozen winter wonderland. Drone owner Colin Hinkle documented Chiberia during the first two weeks of January, shooting in conditions of more than 10 degrees below zero.

Chicago hit record low temperatures during the first cold snap of the year, with temperatures colder than those recorded in Antarctica and Siberia (DNA Info). While many documented their weather-related woes on social media with the hashtag #Chiberia, Hinkle took a different spin on the extreme cold with his beautiful footage of the frozen city.

As someone who has always wanted to visit the “Windy City”, this video takes viewers on a tour of the ice-covered tundra without having to fully experience the subzero temperatures themselves.
