Temperatures are already in the upper 30s  today and it appears likely that we will only see the temperature rise a few more degrees today before the cold front passes east of our area around noon. As the cold front moves east expect surface winds to turn to the north and shower activity to diminish later this afternoon. Additional rainfall amounts through tonight could reach 0.25″ in many locations.

As colder air moves in behind the front tonight, there will be enough moisture to cause a few isolated showers before midnight tonight. If the cold air catches up to the moisture in time, a few of those showers could be in the form of snow showers although no accumulations are expected. Otherwise, expect cloudy skies and lows reaching the middle to upper 20s tonight.

Tuesday 1/13 – Mostly Cloudy; Cooler – High 33º / Tue Night – Mostly Cloudy – Low 22º

The weather is expected to quiet down beginning tomorrow behind the front. Aside from pesky cloud cover, we can expect calm weather tomorrow with highs reaching the lower 30s. Mostly cloudy skies are expected once again tomorrow night with lows reaching the lower 20s. At least it will be warmer than this time last week..

Wednesday 1/14 – Partly Cloudy – High 35º / Wed Night – Mostly Cloudy – Low 22º

Calm weather will continue on Wednesday and we will finally see the return of partly cloudy skies to southern Kentucky thanks to surface high pressure settling over the Missouri Valley. Winds will still be northerly so it will be another cool day with highs reaching the middle 30s. Low temperatures will drop into the lower 20s again under mostly cloudy skies.

A warming trend is still on tap for the second half of the work week with calm weather expected as well. That’s all I’ve got for this morning. Be sure to follow @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWX on Twitter for real-time weather updates.
