Tuesday Afternoon Bowling Green Weather Update

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

This Afternoon – Mostly Cloudy – High 46° / Tonight – Mostly Cloudy – Low 34°

3 PM 45° – 6 PM 43° – 9 PM 41° – 12 AM 39° – 3 AM 36° – 6 AM 34°

Visible satellite imagery this afternoon shows pretty thick cloud cover in place over the region. This will keep temperatures on the chilly side. You shouldn’t expect too much in the way of rain, perhaps an occasional drizzle. Wind speeds should remain around 10 mph for the rest of the afternoon and will likely maintain direction out of the west.

You should expect clouds to stick around during the evening and overnight. Lows will drop into the mid to low 30s across south central Kentucky. Winds will remain out of the west at ~5 – 10 mph. Occasionally winds could gust to 20 mph.

Wednesday 12/17 – Partly Cloudy; Cool – High 40° / Wed Night – Mostly Cloudy; Light Rain/Snow Late – Low 32°

High pressure will settle into the region on Wednesday. This should provide us with a break from the clouds. Conditions will remain fairly cool, due to the cold front that moved through Monday night. Highs will struggle to reach the 40° mark. Winds will be out of the northwest around 5 mph for most of the day.

Wednesday night should begin pretty calm. Mostly cloudy skies will begin to overspread much of the region ahead of a low pressure system. This area of weak low pressure will likely be suppressed to the south of the region due to the high pressure in place.

Nevertheless, the majority of models are on board with giving us some light precipitation despite a majority of the ascent remaining to the west and south of the region. The precipitation will be falling in a pretty cool air mass, thus the dominant precipitation type should be snow late on Wednesday night.

Don’t freak out…we’re not forecasting much in the way of accumulation, if any. Sorry, kids.

Thursday 12/18 – Light Mix Early; Mostly Cloudy – High 40° / Thur Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 30°

A few snow showers will be possible on Thursday morning. However, a warming surface temperature should lead to a mixed precipitation mode as the precipitation begins to end. All in all, little to no accumulation is expected at this time. Mostly cloudy conditions look to stick around for most of the day on Thursday. Highs will once again struggle to reach 40°.

Thursday night will bring partly cloudy skies to the region with lows hovering around 30°. We’re beginning to watch a bigger storm system on Friday and into the weekend. This will likely provide us with another shot of wintry mischief, so stay tuned!
