3pm 47º – 6pm 39º – 9pm 34º – 12am 30º – 3am 27º – 6am 24º

Despite this morning’s cold start, temperatures have soared into the upper 40’s, lower 50’s this afternoon. A low pressure system will dive southeastward from the upper mid-west this evening as cloud cover continues to increase through the early evening hours. The cold front will begin its trek across our area by early evening as cloud cover and colder air moves in. This system will lack any deep moisture as most of us should remain dry. However, I’ll leave a stray chance for a shower across southern Kentucky this evening. Otherwise, partly cloudy conditions stick around late tonight before clearing out early Thursday morning. Overnight lows will be cold as temperatures dip into the mid 20’s.

Thu – Mostly Sunny; Chilly – High 40º / Thu Night – Partly Cloudy; Cold – Low 26º

As we head towards late week, our weather will remain rather quiet. The cold front will be well to our east by Thursday as skies clear out and cooler air settles in. High pressure will work across the region supplying plenty of sunshine as highs struggle to reach the 40 degree mark. A few clouds will roll in by Thursday night as partly cloudy skies prevail. Overnight lows will be cold once again with readings in the middle 20’s.

Not bad, right?

Fri – Increasing Clouds; Cool – High 42º / Fri Night – Mostly Cloudy; Few Showers (Late) – Low 35º

The aforementioned surface high pressure that brought ample amounts of sunshine and cooler temperatures to the region Thursday will begin to weaken and work eastward. In return, winds will slowly shift from our east-southeast as mostly sunny skies kick off our day. By late morning or so, clouds will begin increasing across the area as highs only climb into the lower 40’s.

By Friday night, moisture will continue its northward progression as cloudy skies take over. While a few showers will be possible late Friday, it seems our best chances for rainfall will arrive by Saturday night and into Sunday. Overall, we’ll end the week on a calm note as a more active weekend takes shape. Nonetheless, we’ll continue to monitor all the data over the next few days and keep you up to date with the latest weather info!
