Dreary and damp conditions have prevailed for our Wednesday as the cold front slowly works southeastward across the Commonwealth. In return, we’ve dealt with showers throughout today as highs have only climbed into the mid-upper 50’s.

For the remainder of your afternoon and evening, the showery activity will continue but should begin to wane by tonight. Otherwise, look for mostly cloudy skies to stick around with chilly overnight lows in the upper 40’s.

Thu – Mostly Cloudy; Few Showers – High 55º / Thu Night – Mostly Cloudy; Cold – Low 35º

By Thursday, an upper level trough will quickly swing southeastward through the Great Lakes and eventually into the Ohio Valley Region. This will assist the slow moving front that brought rainfall to the state yesterday by helping nudge that system eastward. However, look for more cloud cover and few rain showers from this disturbance as it slides through tomorrow morning.

Afternoon highs will once again struggle to reach the middle 50’s for highs as extensive cloud cover prevails for Bowling Green weather. On top of the cooler conditions, winds will increase from our west around 10-15 mph with gust up to 30 mph at times. Eventually, winds will turn more northwesterly while bringing in much colder air Thursday night. Overnight temperatures will bottom out in the mid 30’s under mostly cloudy skies.

Fri – Mostly Sunny; Cold – High 49º / Fri Night – Partly Cloudy; Cold – Low 35º

The aforementioned front will clear the state by Friday as surface high pressure begins to build into the region. Despite mostly sunny conditions for the day, afternoon temperatures will only reach the upper 40’s for highs. Unfortunately, the unseasonably cold air mass looks to stick around through the weekend as well.

The good news is we’ll end our Friday with calm and cold conditions. The surface high pressure will be short-lived as some cloud cover begins to build back across the area. Another quick hitting disturbance will arrive for the first part of the weekend bringing a few rain showers and another reinforcing shot of cold air to Bowling Green. Regardless, Friday night will be cold, so bundle up if you have any outdoor activities or high school football games to attend!
