As we’ve been flirting with highs in the low to mid-80s this past week, it’s hard to believe that fall is officially here. Upper-level ridging over the eastern half of the country has brought warmer than average temperatures to our area. However, a pattern change in the weather means cooler and more fall-like conditions are on the way.
The ridging that has dominated our region for the past week will be replaced by an upper-level trough along with a cold front, which will bring cooler temperatures from Canada into our area. The halves of the country will make a bit of a switch in patterns, as warmer weather is likely to once again prevail in the west. According to the most recent models, a cold front is projected to make an appearance in Bowling Green on Thursday and into Friday; another front of cooler air is lined up to reach us not too long after that. Models can change over time, but one thing’s for sure: fall will actually feel like it’s here come this time next week.
