Invest 92L A Threat For Gulf Coast?

A tropical disturbance located along the west coast of Florida is causing some attention for those along the Gulf Coast states. Invest 92L will soon be making its way out to the Gulf Of Mexico. There are a great amount of questions surrounding this system. As the system moves into the Gulf of Mexico, it will encounter less favorable upper level winds. On the flip side, sea surface temperatures are conducive for tropical development. Here’s the current view of Invest 92L.

So what is expected to happen with Invest 92? Like mentioned earlier that is a big question. While most speculation is that it will move into the Gulf of Mexico, questions surround whether it will strengthen or not. Here’s an excerpt from the National Hurricane Center:

“Shower activity associated with the broad area of low pressure centered over southern Florida just west of Lake Okeechobee remains poorly organized. By tonight or early Saturday, the low is expected to be over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico where upper-level winds are forecast to become even less favorable for tropical cyclone formation. Nevertheless, this weather system will continue to be closely monitored, and an Air Force Plane will check the low on Saturday, if necessary. Locally heavy rains associated with the low will continue over portions of southern Florida and the Florida Keys today and Saturday.”

Here’s a quick glance at some model interpretations. A majority of the models bring Invest 92L into the Gulf of Mexico just to spin for a bit. One model brings it across Louisiana eventually, while others maintain its westward movement into the Gulf of Mexico. Where will it go? Nobody knows at this point. Thus, stay tuned!
