Cooler Weather on Tap for Bowling Green

Real-Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Today 9/11 – Cloudy; Rain & Storms Likely – High 79º / Tonight – Mostly Cloudy; Scattered Showers & Thunderstorms – Low 61º

6 am 74º – 9am 76º – 12pm 77º – 3pm 79º – 6pm 72º

The rainfall has been able to hold off thus far, but an area of showers in western Kentucky will move east into Butler and Warren counties over the next few hours. Storms have been impacting areas to our north and west overnight as a surface cold front moves southeast across the state. The cold front is currently located just north of the Ohio River and is expected to pass south of southern Kentucky later this afternoon.

Today looks like a washout as rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move through Kentucky. Rainfall amounts look to be 0.25-0.5″ but a few locations could see some locally heavier rainfall. Outside of the showers and thunderstorms, skies will remain cloudy with temperatures holding pretty steady in he middle to upper 70s.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue overnight thanks to the frontal boundary located just to our south. Winds will shift to the west and low temperatures look to remain in the lower 60s due to cloud cover.

Fri – Mostly Cloudy, Isolated Thunderstorms; Cooler – High 75º / Fri Night – Mostly Cloudy, Few Showers – Low 60º

An upper-level trough will move over our area tomorrow and this will help to usher in a cooler air mass. Unfortunately, we can’t rule out a few more rain chances due to this trough. Precipitation coverage does not look nearly as widespread as today but we could see a few isolated showers and thunderstorms. Skies will remain mostly cloudy with highs only reaching the middle 70s.

Clouds will hang around tomorrow night as well which will keep our low temperature around 60º. A few showers are possible overnight, mainly before midnight.

Sat – Partly Cloudy; Cooler – High 74º / Fri Night – Mostly Clear, Few Showers – Low 53º

The upper-level trough axis looks to shift a bit to the east on Saturday which will help to push the pesky cloud deck out of our area. As skies clear, things will shape up to be a beautiful day on Saturday. Expect partly cloudy skies with a high in the middle 70s. Fans of the cooler weather can rejoice…
