Tuesday’s Bowling Green Weather Update

Real-Time Bowling Green Weather Regional Radar:

 This Afternoon – Mostly Sunny; Iso’d Storms – High 91º / Tonight – Mostly Clear; Mild – Low 70º

3pm 91º – 6pm 88º – 9pm 81º – 12am 76º – 3am 72º – 6am 70º

It’s been another hot & humid afternoon for all of southern Kentucky. Upper level ridging continues to grip the Ohio and Tennessee Valley Region keeping these uncomfortable conditions around. The remainder of this afternoon and evening will feature a slight chance for a few pop-up showers and storms for the area.

Of course this development will be widely scattered in nature as the latest model guidance keeps activity along and west of the I-65 corridor. Otherwise, look for any showers/storms to diminish by tonight as clouds clear. Mostly clear conditions will win out with mild lows right around 70 degrees.

Wed – Mostly Sunny; Iso’d Storms – High 92º / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy; Muggy – Low 71º

Upper level ridging will edge eastward towards the mid-Atlantic allowing a weak surface cold front to work southeastward across the region. It appears that this front will lose some of its steam by the time it crosses into our neck of the woods. However, with plenty of moisture across the area, decent instability, and meager lift from the front, I’m going to leave a chance for some isolated development through the evening hours.

Any storm activity that does occur is not expected to reach severe limits, although primary threats will be heavy rainfall, gusty winds and lightning with any development. The aforementioned front will continue its track southward through the Commonwealth overnight. Otherwise, look for calm conditions under partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will bottom out in the lower 70’s.

Thu – Mostly Sunny; Iso’d Storms  – High 90º / Thu Night – Partly Cloudy, Warm – Low 71º

The cold front will linger around the state for our Thursday as we hold onto isolated storm chances through the early evening hours.  Any storms that develop throughout this period will quickly die off by Thursday night. Partly cloudy skies will win out through the overnight hours as mild and muggy conditions prevail once again.

Upper level ridging will continue to weaken and work eastward into Friday as more rain chances arrive into our holiday weekend. Of course, we’ll keep an eye on things as this next system evolves!

I know, holiday weekend’s & rain chances don’t mix well.
