Surface high pressure continues to hang around the Ohio Valley Region keeping us unseasonably cooler. A weak upper level disturbance is edging closer to the Ozarks and holds all of the responsibility for the partly sunny skies we’ve had for today. Take a look at the WPC Surface Forecast Map for a better idea.

The surface ridging will protect much of southern Kentucky and shield us from any precipitation chances. Partly cloudy conditions will persist into the evening hours with another chilly night on tap. Lows will dip into the upper 50’s to right around 60 degrees for Bowling Green.

Thu – Partly Sunny; Warmer – High 86º / Thu Night – Partly Cloudy; Chilly – Low 62º

The aforementioned surface high pressure will continue its eastward progression as winds begin to shift. Afternoon highs will begin to climb towards more seasonable conditions by late week. Mid 80’s will be likely for Bowling Green by the afternoon as moisture begins to increase across the area.

Don’t worry, you can still enjoy the drive with your windows down.

Overall, Thursday will shape up to be another great day as the muggy conditions continue to hold off. Partly cloudy skies will stick around through the evening and overnight hours with cool lows in the lower 60’s.

Fri – Mostly Sunny; Warmer – High 87º / Fri Night – Partly Cloudy, Pleasant – Low 65º

Much of the region will remain under a stagnant upper level trough as a weak shortwave works into the area from our northwest. While the atmosphere remains rather dry, the upper level support will allow for some isolated showers and storms to pop-up through the evening hours. Although the atmosphere offers meager convective parameters, a slight chance for a widely scattered shower or storm will be possible.

Don’t you start that! It’s going to be ok….

Otherwise, look for partly sunny skies once again with warmer highs in the upper 80’s. Any activity that develops through the afternoon hours will begin to lose its juice due to the loss of daytime heating. Overnight lows will be pleasant as temperatures drop into the mid 60’s.
