Sunday Weather Update

Real-time radar:

Today  7/6  Mostly Sunny – High 90º / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 65º

Good morning everyone, today’s weather is looking to be quite good. Southerly flow should make it’s return today and bring with it warmer temperatures and higher dewpoints as highs approach 90 degrees with mostly sunny skies. Absolute perfection with a side of heat, which is fine for those who can hop in the water somewhere.

Notice an area of low pressure to our northwest which will be a key player in our weather moving ahead into next week as a trough works it’s way into our region by Tuesday. For tonight though, conditions look calm with lows in the low and mid 60s.

Monday  7/7  Mostly Sunny – High 92º / Monday Night – Mostly Cloudy/Iso’d Showers – Low 72º

The start of the work week is mostly uneventful and will resemble conditions we’ll experience today, with the exception of warmer temperatures and higher dewpoints as southerly winds continue.  Expect more cloud cover and late evening showers with the presence of upper level dynamics beginning to work into the region and utilize unstable air. But hey, overall the weather should be mostly quiet.

Monday night will cool to the low 70’s with an isolated shower being possible. Overall not bad as we any rain will be beneficial to the area.

Tuesday  7/8  Thunderstorms Possible– High 90º / Tuesday Night – Scattered showers and T’storms– Low 71º

Tuesday will be more active as jet stream dynamics will begin to approach from the northwest into the region and bring with it the necessary elements to organize thunderstorm activity.  Here’s a look at 300mb heights and winds which clearly illustrate the trough digging into the Ohio Valley at 4pm Tuesday:

The Storm Prediction Center has an eye on our area as a result of the approaching trough allowing for the chance for severe weather on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Keep an eye on the weather and take any necessary precautions if outdoor activities are planned.

Tuesday night will likely continue the threat for scattered showers and storms as temperatures fall to around 70 across the region. Hopefully nothing severe comes from the activity on Tuesday, but rain is needed. Stay tuned for further updates as forecasts will continue to be refined as we go forward towards Tuesday.
