Southerly flow will continue to pump moisture into the region as dewpoint temperatures rise in to the upper 60’s. Precipitable water values near 1.8” indicate a sufficiently moist atmosphere that is coupled with decent instability across the area. These ingredients along with any additional outflow boundaries from other storms will set the stage for development this afternoon & evening.

With that said, any cells that develop are not expected to reach severe limits due to a weaker mid-level flow. However, any storm will be capable of producing heavy rainfall, gusty winds and lightning. Look for activity to wane this evening with the loss of daytime heating. Mostly cloudy skies will win out with mild temperatures in the lower 70’s.

Sat – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – High 87º / Sat Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – Low 69º

The weekend continues to grow more unsettled as the latest guidance hints toward widespread coverage in showers and storms. Another shortwave will work through the Ohio and Tennessee Valley Regions as activity is expected to ramp up Saturday afternoon.  Southerly winds will keep the Commonwealth quite moist as pop up storms increase across the area.

Despite the active start to the weekend, no severe weather is expected although a few stronger storms will be possible. Much like Friday, heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning will be primary threats. As usual, storm activity will diminish overnight.

Sun – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – High 88º / Sun Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – Low 70º

Surface high pressure will continue to weaken and work eastward towards the Mid-Atlantic Region. Continued southerly flow will keep us warm, muggy and moist. A more organized trough across the Central Plains will gather itself before progressing eastward. This front will provide additional lift along with moist conditions to induce scattered storms for southern Kentucky.

Activity is expected to last through Sunday afternoon and into the early evening hours as much of the weekend looks to be a damp one. Good news is no severe weather is expected from this set up, although the rainfall could be greatly beneficial to Bowling Green. Otherwise, look for a few scattered showers and storms Sunday evening with mild overnight temperatures.

Yuck…
