Nice Weekend Ahead

Real-Time Regional Radar:

This Afternoon – Partly Cloudy; Pleasant – High 79º / Tonight – Mostly Clear; Chilly – Low 55º

3pm 77º – 6pm 74º – 9pm 68º – 12am 63º – 3am 58º – 6am 55º

Despite the scattered showers and cooler temperatures this morning, conditions will only improve as we head into the evening hours. A weaker disturbance worked through the Commonwealth early this morning brining plenty of cloud cover and a few showers to Bowling Green.

The cold front will continue its trek into eastern portions of the state while taking the showers and cloud cover with it. In return, skies will clear from the northwest to the southeast as cooler and drier air filters into Bowling Green. Look for a calm, quiet and cool night as temperatures drop into the mid 50’s for lows. Oh….and watch out for this guy tonight.

We’ll see plenty of sunshine across the area for all of Saturday as afternoon highs warm into the lower 80’s. Unseasonably dry and cooler air will move in as the afternoon will be a prime time to get out and enjoy.  Skies will remain mostly clear through the overnight hours with cool temperatures in the lower 60’s.

Sun – Mostly Sunny; Warmer – High 86º / Sun Night – Partly Cloudy; Mild – Low 67º

The aforementioned surface high pressure will continue to work eastward towards the Mid Atlantic by Sunday afternoon. Return flow will begin to ramp up as winds shift from the south.

Temperatures will heat up starting Sunday as afternoon highs make a run towards the mid 80’s. Mostly sunny skies stick around for the remainder of our weekend as warm and muggy conditions persist into next week. More rain and storm chances will kick off our workweek as long term models suggest at least daily chances through Wednesday.

Overall, a nice Father’s Day weekend is shaping up and one all the dad’s out there can’t complain too much about. Don’t forget, today is the eerie Friday the 13th and also the day for the “Honey Moon.” Be sure to check out the blogs Weather Buzz section for more details. Tonight’s forecast seems favorable for viewing this type of moon as skies will be mostly clear.
